The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, University of Rijeka, as a research and educational institution, serves as a key generator of knowledge in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and sustainable development. The Faculty offers two doctoral programmes \u2013 Business Economics in Tourism and Hospitality<\/strong> and Management of Sustainable Development<\/strong> \u2013 which are structured as three-year programmes (180 ECTS credits). These programmes are intended for candidates who have completed an appropriate graduate-level degree programme (300 ECTS credits, including undergraduate studies), or an integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme (300 ECTS credits) in accordance with the Regulations on Doctoral Studies. Admission to the doctoral programmes is based on a public call for applications issued by the Faculty Council. The programme is accredited and conducted in Croatian. In line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, the doctoral programmes provide comprehensive support to researchers at all stages of their careers. Through systematic scientific research and high-quality mentorship, these programmes enable students to acquire the highest levels of competence, with the aim of developing the skills necessary for independent scientific research in the fields of business economics in tourism and hospitality and management of sustainable development. Special attention is given to young researchers, their academic progression, and the creation of a stimulating environment for their further development.
