From 6 to 7 June, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the University of Rijeka hosted and organized the 27th biennial International Congress Tourism and Hotel Industry 2024, Trends and Challenges.
Welcoming speeches were held by Dean of the Faculty, Full Professor PhD Marko Perić, Chair of the Program Committee, Assoc. Prof. PhD Marina Laškarin Ažić, Vice-Rector for studies, students and quality assurance of the University of Rijeka Professor PhD Marta Žuvić, the Mayor of the City of Opatija, Mr. Fernando Kirigin, president of the Kvarner Region Tourist Board, Mrs. Irena Peršić Živadinov and Head of the Administrative Department for Tourism, Entrepreneurship and Rural Development of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Mrs. Alessandra Ban.
After the official opening, very interesting plenary speeches were given by:
- Keynote speaker Professor Levent Altinay, PhD (Oxford Brookes University, UK) with the topic GLOBAL CHALLENGES AND DIRECTIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH.
- Keynote speaker Professor Catherine Prentice, PhD (University of Southern Queensland, Australia) with the topic LEVERAGING EMOTIONAL AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY SUSTAINABILITY.
The congress brought together numerous national and international experts and researchers who presented their research, new trends and challenges in the field of tourism and hospitality. During the scientific part of the congress, 95 scientists and researchers from 27 different countries presented the results of their research in seven scientific sections.
The congress also included a workshop for doctoral students, which provided an opportunity to get to know each other and exchange experiences, as well as to expand cooperation with foreign researchers.
