Foreign Languages in Tourism for Beginners

Program goal and learning objectives, general and specific competences and skills and knowledge which will be accomplished by the end of this program

  • The program is intended for learning German, Italian, and/or French language of the tourism profession at the elementary (A1.1) level.
  • The aim of the program is to adopt basic language tools (vocabulary and grammar) and skills (listening and reading with understanding, speaking and writing) as the basic prerequisites for acquiring communication competences in the tourism profession. Teaching is based on a communication approach with the goal to quickly implement the adopted materials in communication situations in tourism. Special attention is paid to the practicing of lexical elements and to the grammar processing and practicing while the focus is on the structures that most often appear in communication.
  • At the end of the program, participants will be able to understand the most frequent words, phrases, and sentences from the field of tourism and use them in communication, for reading simple professional texts (job posts, hotel brochures, tourist destination description, travel program, menus, recipes, etc.), writing a short resume, compiling a short travel program, and filling out forms with personal information.

Program duration

  • Each program is organized in a duration of 30 hours.

Number of ECTS credits

  • Upon completion of the program, participants will receive 3 ECTS credits after passing the final exam and will receive the appropriate certificate from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
