The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management (FTHM) of the University of Rijeka is the only university institution in the Republic of Croatia fully focused on education and scientific development of personnel in the fields of tourism, hospitality, business economics and sustainable development. It offers undergraduate and graduate university study programs, postgraduate, doctoral studies, specialist studies and lifelong learning programmes.

In addition to teaching activities, the scientific and professional activities of the Faculty are recognized not only in the Republic of Croatia, but also in the entire region. The Faculty is the holder of numerous professional and scientific projects in the country and abroad, and the organizer of scientific and professional conferences and round tables. In addition to cooperation with other higher education institutions, the Faculty also actively cooperates with businesses, the economy, public sector and civil society.
The history of the Faculty begins in 1960 with the establishment of the Higher School of Economics in Hospitality, which in 1969 became the Department of Hospitality and Tourism (four-year specialized course) of the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka. In 1974, the Department of Hospitality and Tourism became the Faculty of Hospitality in Opatija. Today the Faculty operates under the name of Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Opatija. The Faculty is proud of its Alumni Association, where former students, as ambassadors of the Faculty, promote the reputation of the tourism and hospitality sector with their knowledge and experience, thus actively participating in the development of the entire economy. The Alumni Association supports the work of the Faculty’s Centre for Career Development and
Internship by helping future colleagues, current students, to choose their life path and career.
