Students from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management organised the fourth Wave 4 Tourism (W4T) student conference from 3 to 6 October 2024. In addition to a hard-working organising team, student volunteers also took part in organising the conference, for whom this was their first encounter with organising such a large event.
At the opening of the conference, Dean Prof. Marko Perić, PhD, Goran Pavlović, Manager for Congresses and Other Forms of Tourism of the Opatija Tourist Board, on behalf of the City of Opatija and Arijana Mustapić on behalf of the organising team of students of the Faculty.
The aim of the W4T conference was to provide students and young professionals with new knowledge and experience from renowned experts in various fields. This year’s conference theme dealt with industries that indirectly influence tourism, focussing on three key industries. Accordingly, the programme on Friday 4 October 2024 was divided into three parts:
Get Started – a section dedicated to the events industry
Watch & Learn – a section of the conference dedicated to the film industry
Play to WIN! – Presentations and panels on the topic of sports tourism
The panels were attended by interesting and renowned experts from the various fields they cover. On Saturday, various workshops were organised at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the sailing workshop took place on the waters off Ičići and Opatija. During the conference, various formal and informal meetings were organised, which enabled students to meet students from other faculties, both from Croatia and abroad.
