At the BLMM2025 international conference of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, Croatia, Associate Professor Nataša Moreti presented a scientific paper entitled Air Travel for All – The Accessibility of Airports. This paper was the result of the SITE – Shaping Inclusive Tourist Experiences project, and its aim was to promote the necessity of creating inclusive tourist experiences.

A significant discrepancy has been identified between the regulatory framework and professional guidelines for air passenger transport and practice concerning the physical and informational accessibility of international airports. In light of the accessibility regulation and guidelines pertaining to air transport and tourism, a framework has been proposed. This framework outlines simple (“reasonable accommodation”) solutions designed to enhance air travel accessibility for all individuals seeking to travel, including those with disabilities. By adapting the airport and removing barriers (in accordance with the principles of Universal Design), it becomes a more inclusive space. This scientific paper proposes a manner in which to comply with regulation and guidelines whilst meeting the needs of passengers with reduced mobility – without excessive interventions in the infrastructure and budgetary burden for airports.
