As part of the Erasmus+ KA171 programme, Dr. Were Simon Okwachi and Dr. Rose M. Shikuri from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kakamega, Kenya, are visiting our Faculty from 27 April to 9 May 2026.
Dr. Were Simon Okwachi is an expert in the field of hospitality management, with particular research interests in restaurant service operations, food and beverage operations, catering, and hotel service management.
Dr. Rose M. Shikuri is the Head of the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the School of Public Health, Biomedical Sciences and Technology at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. Her academic and research interests include food and nutrition security, nutrition and disease management, maternal and child health, life-cycle nutrition, leadership studies, and development.
As part of the course Economics of Hospitality Enterprises, Dr. Okwachi delivered a lecture on 30 April 2026 entitled “Transformative AI Adoption in Hotel Business Operations”, while Dr. Shikuri delivered a lecture on 4 May 2026 entitled “Linkage between Urban Food Systems and Non-Communicable Diseases in Kenya”.
