The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the Youth Culture Development Association Kulturni front have signed a lease agreement for the use of the Faculty’s premises for the purpose of hosting the science fiction and fantasy festival Liburnicon 2026. The 21st edition of the SF & Fantasy Festival Liburnicon will take place on 21 and 22 August 2026 in Opatija.
Liburnicon is a festival dedicated to science fiction and fantasy, advanced sciences, history and mythology. For many years, the festival has brought together numerous visitors, authors, lecturers, scientists, artists, and enthusiasts of literature, film, games, cosplay and popular culture, creating a recognisable meeting place for knowledge, creativity and entertainment.
The Liburnicon 2026 programme will include lectures, workshops, presentations, games and tournaments, a board game zone, a cosplay competition, exhibition and entertainment content, as well as a children’s programme. This year’s edition has been announced under the theme Outlawed Edition.
Hosting Liburnicon on the Faculty’s premises confirms the importance of connecting the academic community with local cultural and creative initiatives.
