The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Rijeka, successfully hosted the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) entitled “Safe & Trusted AI in Tourism: Mobile Assistants for Real-World Trips”.
The programme was delivered in a blended format, with a virtual component held from 23 to 25 June 2026 and an on-site component in Opatija from 29 June to 3 July 2026.
The programme brought together students from Italy and Hungary, lecturers from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, lecturers and mentors from partner institutions – the University of Perugia in Italy and Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Hungary – as well as an external practitioner who actively contributed to the programme’s implementation.
During the programme, international student teams developed AI-supported mobile app concepts addressing real-world challenges in tourism and hospitality. Special emphasis was placed on usefulness, safety, trust, the responsible use of artificial intelligence and the practical applicability of the proposed solutions.
The programme included lectures, mentoring, teamwork, practical workshops and final student project presentations. The BIP contributed to the development of students’ digital, communication, entrepreneurial and intercultural competences, while also strengthening international cooperation with partner institutions.
