The Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) has approved funding for the research project “Testing the Resilience of Public Finances to Climate Risks: The Case of Croatia”, led by our doc. dr. sc. Tanja Fatur Šikić.
In addition to Tanja, the project team includes:

- Kristina Kregar, University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics and Business
The project examines how climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy affect the public finances of the Republic of Croatia, and how fiscal policies can contribute to strengthening the economy’s resilience to climate risks. As part of the project, the first macroeconomic model tailored to the Croatian economy will be developed, enabling the analysis of various climate scenarios and the assessment of their effects on the national budget.
Expected outcomes include the development of new analytical tools for climate risk assessment, the publication of scientific papers in international journals, the preparation of policy recommendations for public decision-makers, and the strengthening of FTHM’s research capacity in the field of climate change and public finance.
