To mark World Tourism Day, celebrated on 27 September, we opened the doors of the Faculty to students from the Opatija Hotel and Tourism School, the Opatija Hospitality School, and the Rijeka School of Economics. Through informal interaction, presentations of our study programmes, and the exchange of experiences, we introduced them to the study opportunities and student life at FTHM.
Special emphasis was placed on direct conversations with students who are facing important decisions about continuing their education. Meetings like this provide an opportunity to strengthen the connection between secondary and higher education, while also encouraging reflection on the knowledge, competencies, and skills required of future professionals in tourism and hospitality.
The World Tourism Day activities and presentation of the Faculty were led by teaching assistants Dea Dević, Jelena Kapeš, and Sandra Kukić, Prof. Marinela Krstinić Nižić, PhD, Vice Dean for Development, and Prof. Elena Rudan, PhD, Vice Dean for Business Relations. The students were accompanied by their teachers: Branka Bistre from the Opatija Hospitality School, Klaudija Skoko from the Rijeka School of Economics, and Nenad Drobnjak, Luka Cvitan, Nataša Matošević Budim, and Lorna Ivančić Vukelić from the Opatija Hotel and Tourism School.
We would like to thank the students and teachers of the Opatija Hotel and Tourism School, the Opatija Hospitality School, and the Rijeka School of Economics for their visit and the enjoyable time spent together. We believe that some of today’s secondary school students will soon walk through the doors of FTHM again, this time as our students.
