The Sustainable Tourism Development, online study programme offers a balance of theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and competences that students acquire in economics with a special focus on sustainable development of tourism. The attractiveness and topicality of the degree programme derives from innovative teaching content, methods and teaching procedures aimed at the acquisition and implementation of basic and specific knowledge, skills and competences in the field of economics, with a particular focus on sustainable tourism development, i.e. the training of future leaders in tourism, hospitality and the public sector. Guest lectures by experts from the field and problem classes certainly contribute to the attractiveness of the study programme. Since the said study programme is conducted online, it is necessary to point out the advantages of studying in this way. These concern the saving of study costs (following the classes from home), the choice of dynamics in mastering the teaching material, the improvement of the efficiency of the studies and the acquisition of knowledge in a modern, innovative way.

The aim of the study programme
The aim of the study programme is to enable students to perform management tasks related to the design and implementation of sustainable tourism development and its continuous improvement.
Competences acquired upon completion of the study programme

- The ability to independently manage business processes related to tourism and hospitality based on the principles of sustainable development.

Upon completion of this programme, students will develop general competencies such as the ability to think abstractly, think critically, generate new ideas, identify and solve problems, plan and manage time, continuous improvement, independence in work and other skills.
Possibility of employment
The graduate programme is designed to provide relevant knowledge, skills and competences for the exercise of top-level management functions in tourism, which must be exercised under modern conditions in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. In this way, future Masters of Economics will be trained to: occupy significant positions in the public and private sectors in leadership positions in travel agencies, tourist boards, catering businesses, protected areas such as national parks, nature parks, etc. In addition, the programme trains students for jobs in destination management and entrepreneurial activities in tourism and related fields that require specific knowledge from tourism based on the principles of sustainable development.

After completing this study programme, students have the option of enrolling in doctoral studies or one of the forms of university specialised studies, i.e. lifelong learning programmes.

The online Bachelor programme in Sustainable Tourism Development is offered to part-time students.
Tuition fees are 729,98 € / 5.500,00 HRK, registration fee 50,43 € / 380,00 HRK
Classes are organised in modules (75% of the total number of hours for full-time students)
Enrolment rate 90
Knowledge tests (mid-term exams and final exams) are conducted at the faculty in Opatija (on site). As this study programme is accredited as an online study programme, depending on the number of enrolled students from the greater Zabok area, it is possible to have mid-term exams and final exams under controlled conditions in the presence of a teacher or staff member at the Zabok study centre.
