The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management is inevitably mentioned when talking about the more than 60 years of education of higher education in tourism in Opatija, as an institution that has left an indelible mark on the development of Croatian tourism.
Today, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija is the only university institution in the Republic of Croatia that focuses entirely on the education of managers in the hotel and tourism industry, as well as on the scientific development of employees in this field. The resulting task of the faculty’s staff is to contribute to the realisation of the new development model of Croatian tourism through teaching and scientific work.
The Faculty is the holder of numerous professional and scientific projects in Croatia and abroad and the organiser of scientific and professional conferences, round tables and panels. It has 7 institutes and 20 departments and offers the following degree programmes:
- Undergraduate university studies
- Graduate university studies
- Postgraduate specialist studies
- Doctoral studies
- Lifelong learning programmes
The quality of the content and the duration of the study programmes are fully in line with the Bologna Declaration and with already known study programmes of this kind in Europe and are designed according to the requirements of the modern labour market. The European system for the transfer and collection of study credits (ECTS) has been introduced at the Faculty, which enables easy readability and comparability of study programmes and is applied to all types of study programmes that are carried out. The Faculty has developed an internationally easily recognised degree classification of First Class Honours Degree, a system for measuring learning outcomes. It provides its students with distance learning and an electronic record, joining the list of world-renowned and recognised universities that use modern educational products to evaluate and record student learning outcomes.
Upon completion of one of the study programmes, students receive a diploma and an additional study document with an academic title recognised in the European labour market and comparable to qualifications, thus becoming an equal participant in the knowledge of Europe.
