In the realization of the academic community’s strategic determination to be an active partner of the local community and economy, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management fosters business cooperation with tourism and hospitality practice, scientific and educational institutions in the country and abroad, local administration and self-government units, associations and the rest of the public.
Cooperation with business entities in the field of tourism and catering, with a special emphasis on renowned hotels, camps and associations in the Republic of Croatia, is achieved through the implementation of student internships, lifelong education programmes, as well as the creation of studies and projects. In addition to the above, as a component of the University of Rijeka, the Faculty carries out significant activities with other higher education institutions in the country and abroad, where the role of the Faculty as a partner in the competence centers of tourism and hospitality stands out.
Cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, but also with local administration and self-government, with special emphasis on cooperation with Primorje-Gorski kotar County, the City of Opatija and the City of Rijeka, and with other municipalities, cities, and counties in the Republic of Croatia, is particularly significant. Cooperation was realized through the creation of strategic development projects in the field of tourism, programmes of lifelong education, and activities on the creation of other development projects and studies in the field of tourism, catering and sustainable development.
Cooperation with the economy is also expressed through various educational programmes in the fields of economics, tourism and hospitality. Through the successful implementation of these programmes, the Faculty additionally strengthens its function as a public educational and scientific institution, strengthens relations with entities from the business environment, and actively transfers new knowledge and insights into their operations.
The Faculty organizes numerous lectures by distinguished experts from practice, which enables students to gain insight into the practical knowledge of our best businessmen and to apply the acquired knowledge to solving real business problems.
Through the Faculty’s cooperation with business entities, the implementation and expansion of practical knowledge is encouraged through field teaching, practical work and, finally, the employment of students after completing their studies.
Economic Council
In order to strengthen its connection with the community, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management has established the Economic Council, consisting of esteemed business professionals who support our institution’s work with their knowledge and experience and are prepared to participate in development processes.
