  • On Monday, April 28, 2025, the promotion of the book “Breaking Barriers: Designing Inclusive Tourist Destinations” was held at the library of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
  • Authors Jelena Đurkin Badurina, Nataša Kovačić, Hana Paleka, and Daniela Soldić Frleta provide analysis, examples, and recommendations on how to make tourism accessible to all, without exception.
  • Reviewer Prof. Dr. Dora Smolčić Jurdana emphasized that the book represents a valuable contribution to the development of tourism, offering a systematic approach to the topic and practical guidelines for shaping accessible and inclusive destinations.
  • The book highlights that accessibility is not a special type of tourism, but a fundamental right of all visitors and an opportunity for local communities to grow through fairer and more sustainable development.
  • The SITE project – Shaping Inclusive Tourist Experiences, funded by the Interreg Italy – Croatia 2021 – 2027 programme, was also presented, promoting the application of universal design and inclusivity in tourism.
  • Accessible tourism is not just a technical issue — it is a question of the values we choose to live by.
