On Tuesday, 18 February 2025, at 9:00 a.m., the ninth Lifelong Learning Programme “Management of Camping Resort” was officially opened, with a total of 27 participants registered.

The programme consists of three weeks, i.e., 60 hours of online classes and three days of on-site classes, which will take place on the island of Krk, at the Premium Camping Resort Krk. The novelty of this year’s programme is that the first week of classes will be held in English.

Participants will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the practical functioning of all the camp’s operational units and visit three other top camps.

Camping management has been taught at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the University of Rijeka for ten years, while the lifelong learning programme “Management camping resort” has been running successfully for nine years. The faculty has recognised the importance of camping for Croatian tourism and its key role in the sustainable development of destinations. As part of the European Green Deal, campsites are becoming one of the most competitive forms of accommodation, and the COVID-19 pandemic has made them even more of a sought-after form of stay. Campsites are places of unique holidays in a scenic nature, with family seclusion, healthy recreation and conviviality, which makes them one of the most sustainable forms of accommodation. In the Republic of Croatia, campsites generated 21.2 million overnight stays in 2024, which is 11% more than in 2019. According to ADAC measurements, Croatia ranks second in Europe in terms of the quality of camping accommodation, and this high position is certainly due to systematic education.

The lifelong education programme “Management of camping resort” is focused on interesting, interactive, modern, and practical teaching, which will be provided by a total of 45 lecturers this year. Among them are outstanding professors from the Faculty of Opatija as well as top experts from the field – partners from the most successful Croatian companies. In addition, 15 top-class foreign guest lecturers will take part in the programme this year.

In addition to graduation and the acquisition of 10 ECTS points, the programme partners will award top prizes to the four best students (those with the best exam results). The Croatian Camping Association has secured two awards – a weekend in a mobile home in one of Croatia’s top camps and free participation in the 19th Congress of the Croatian Camping Association. The company Aminess will reward one participant with a weekend stay at the exclusive Aminess Avalona Camping Resort 5 *, while Arena Hospitality Group will provide a weekend in a glamping tent.
