The traditional Days of Croatian Tourism took place in Šibenik from October 6 to 8. The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management also participated in the Days of Croatian Tourism, which is the largest gathering of tourism professionals in Croatia and marks the tourism year in the Republic of Croatia.
On October 6, 2022, during the first event of this meeting entitled “Sustainable Future of Tourism – Presentation of the Strategy for the Development of Sustainable Tourism until 2030”, the strategy was presented by the Minister of Tourism, Assoc. Prof. Nikolina Brnjac, Ph.D. and before the Faculty of Management in Tourism and Hospitality by the project leader, Prof. Dora Smolčić Jurdana, Ph.D..
On October 7, 2022, Dean Prof. Sandra Janković, Ph.D., moderated the panel discussion “How to be excellent?” at the Croatian Tourism Forum with the company VISA. The panel discussion was organized by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and a discussion developed on how to be excellent in the hotel industry and what this means for the competitive and sustainable development of destinations.
The panelists were: Melida Bešić, Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, Rooms Division Manager, Assistant Damir Krešić Ph.D., Institute of Tourism, Manager, Renata Vujasinović, Visa Hrvatska, Manager, Larisa Deduš, TrustYou, Manager-Global Account Management, Ivan Kuret, Martinis Marchi, Hotel Manager.
In the introductory presentation, Prof. Sandra Janković, Ph.D. pointed out that although guests give the highest marks to our hotels compared to our competitors in the Mediterranean, highlighting in particular the location and quality of service as the biggest advantages, the average room rate achieved in the months before and after the season is lower than that of our competitors and slightly higher in the season than in Italy, Portugal and Greece
