Mr. Ryan Gauci, General Manager and Ms. Nataša Kovačić Stilinović, Director of Human Resources from Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa visited the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management on 29 September 2023, where they were received by Dean Sandra Janković, Vice-Dean Marinela Krstinić Nižić, Vice-Dean Marko Perić and members of the Eco-Committee, teaching assistant Maša Trinajstić and students of the Eco Committee Lucija Bebić and Nina Jović.
The Faculty and Hilton Rijeka signed a donation agreement signifying their mutual interest in conceiving and executing a novel ecotourism initiative in collaboration with the Faculty’s Eco Committee.
This collaborative endeavor is an entry into the programme for the 50th anniversary of the Faculty’s establishment, with the Hilton Global Foundation generously contributing a sum of 1000 USD to support the undertaking.
This project will create a new tourist product, emphasizing the green and historical locations of the Faculty. The project outline involves the placement of QR boards at notable spots within the Faculty’s premises, which will be explored with the help of a map. Users will be able to obtain comprehensive information about each location in both Croatian and English by scanning the QR code at the designated point. It is also new that there will be hidden geocaches in certain locations. Notably, the project will introduce hidden geocaches in specific locations, integrating elements of adventure and contemporary technology, encompassing GPS satellite navigation and internet connectivity, the so-called hi-tech search for hidden treasure. This activity encourages being in nature and a sense of adventure among students, employees, tourists and local residents. Hilton Rijeka recognized the ecological, touristic and social value of this project, which continues the good partnership between Hilton and the Faculty.
