As part of the MARINET project, team members Prof. Greta Krešić, PhD, Elena Dujmić, and Mia Sokolović participated in the third edition of the Italian Oyster Fest, held on 16 and 17 May 2025 in La Spezia, Italy.
This festival, dedicated to the sustainable production and promotion of oysters, brought together numerous producers, researchers, and oyster enthusiasts.
The MARINET project team actively participated in the festival activities, taking the opportunity to engage in communication and research activities within the framework of the project. During the event, promotional photo and video materials were collected for a marketing campaign that will be implemented as part of the project activities. Interviews with producers and consumers explored their views on current trends in oyster consumption, preferences, and habits, while an oyster expert shared valuable insights into the farming process, quality, and specific characteristics of this aquaculture product. The collected data on consumer perception of aquaculture products will be analyzed as part of the development of strategies aimed at improving communication and raising awareness.
Participation in the Italian Oyster Fest represents an important step toward achieving the objectives of the MARINET project — strengthening cross-border cooperation, promoting sustainable production, and increasing consumer awareness and trust in aquaculture products.
