On 28 November 2024, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management (FTHM) officially opened a permanent exhibition of photographs of Croatian tourist destinations and the sporting successes of Croatian sportswomen and sportsmen. A total of 40 photographs on tourism and sport will now adorn the halls of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality in Ika and the Study Centre in Zabok.
The sporting successes of Croatian athletes contribute significantly to the promotion of tourism, while photographs of tourist destinations encourage visitors to explore Croatia’s well-known and lesser-known beauties. The authors of the beautiful photographs, photographers Slobodan Kadić and Jan Serdar, helped to realise this project, which was coordinated by the Faculty by Associate Professor Elena Rudan, PhD, Vice-Dean of Business Relations.
Dean of the Faculty Professor Marko Perić, PhD, and Professor Senka Maćešić, PhD, Vice-Rector for Digitalisation and Development, spoke at the opening of the exhibition. Dean Perić thanked the authors Slobodan Kadić and Jan Serdar, the sponsors and supporters who made the realisation of this important project possible and emphasised the connection and importance of sport and tourism. The initiative for the realisation of the project came from the photographers Slobodan Kadić and Jan Serdar and the Dean in a joint project. This initiative created a permanent exhibition of photographs, which many of those gathered today were able to see.
Representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport were present at the opening – Nikolina Jakopić, the head of the Sector for the development of tourist destinations, addressed those present and emphasised the long-standing cooperation between the Faculty and the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, and Ivana Janušić, the head of the Department for the Use of Tourism Fund Resources. Vlado Šola, an expert in local sports programmes and a well-known former handball goalkeeper, on behalf of the Croatian Olympic Committee.
The sponsors of this project are the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Croatian Olympic Committee, while the supporters are Zagrebačka banka and the Croatian National Tourist Board.
