Round Table Held: “Creative Tourism in Rural and Border Areas – New Opportunities”

As part of the CROCUS project (Cross-Border Cultural and Creative Tourism in Rural and Remote Areas), a round table titled “Creative Tourism in Rural and Border Areas – New Opportunities” was held on May 15, 2025. The event was moderated by Marijana Kalčić, Director of the Matulji Municipality Tourist Board.

The event began with an introductory presentation by Dr. Zrinka Zadel, Full Professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, who presented the project and shared the results of a survey conducted among the local population in the Living Lab of the Matulji and Ilirska Bistrica municipalities.

Participants in the panel discussion included:

  • Anđela Cvjetković, President of the LAG Terra Liburna association
  • Dejan Iskra, Representative of the Regional Destination Organization Postojna Cave – Green Karst
  • Dr. Zrinka Zadel, Full Professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management

The discussion focused on the potential of creative tourism as a driver of sustainable development in rural and border regions, with examples of good practices presented, along with possible directions for future collaboration.
