The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management systematically offers the market lifelong learning programmes that meet the real needs of the economy and the community. Seminars for tour guides and branch managers have the longest tradition of 20 years, i.e. since 1997.
Since the beginning of the training of tourist guides at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, special emphasis has been placed on the quality of lectures and the provision of practical experience. For this reason, numerous professors from the Faculty ofTourism and Hospitality Management, the Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences in Rijeka, the Ministry of Tourism, UHPA, the Association of Tourist Guides and others are involved in the lectures.
The profession of a tourist guide is always connected with numerous trips, knowledge of foreign languages and a broad knowledge of history, art and culture.
A good tourist guide is an ambassador of the country whose goals he represents. It is not just one of many professions in tourism, but a vocation that conveys the enthusiasm, the impression, the customs and the culture of a country. The dynamics of this invitation, interwoven with diverse knowledge about everything that could be of interest to any tourist, offers countless possibilities. All these possibilities and much other knowledge can be discovered at our seminar, whose accredited programme takes place according to the regulations and legal provisions of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.
After passing the professional examination, the faculty issues a certificate to the participant of the seminar for tourist guides, granting him/her the professional title of tourist guide for the area of the counties of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj, Krapina-Zagorje and Istria in the languages in which he/she passed the examination.
