As part of the popular Citizens’ Lectures on January 22, 2025, Assoc. prof. Jelena Đurkin Badurina, Ph. D. from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Manegement at Galeria Laurus in Lovran held a lecture entitled “Accessible and inclusive tourist offer as a source of benefits for tourists and locals”. The goal of this public presentation was to bring closer the concepts of accessibility and inclusivity in the tourist offer and to explain the long-term benefits of developing such an offer for increasing the number of tourists outside the main tourist season, as well as for the local residents. Special emphasis was placed on using universal design for creating infrastructure that is accessible to different target groups such as people with disabilities, but also the elderly, pregnant women, families with small children, etc. The lecture presented in a simple and concise manner the results of the research carried out as part of the EU project SITE: Shaping Inclusive Tourism Experiences, financed as part of the Italy-Croatia Interreg program. We would like to thank the Municipality of Lovran and the Lovran Tourist Board for enabling our professors to present the results of their research to the public, and we hope that the conclusions from the discussion after the lecture will be put into practice.
