Last week, as part of the SITE (Shaping Inclusive Tourist Experiences) project, a team from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management visited pilot investment sites in Šibenik and Dubrovnik and conducted training sessions for tourism stakeholders in these destinations.
The investments showcased incorporate a range of solutions designed to make the selected sites—St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik, the Rector’s Palace and the airport in Dubrovnik—more inclusive and accessible to diverse categories of visitors. This marks a significant step toward creating a more accessible and inclusive tourism experience for all visitors.
The training sessions built upon the progress achieved through these investments and introduced participants to key topics for developing inclusive tourism destinations:
- the concepts and principles of universal design,
- the use of easy language in communication,
- terminology related to accessible and inclusive tourism,
- approaches, recommendations, and best practice examples regarding inclusivity in the cultural and transport sectors.
