The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the University of Rijeka welcomed a new generation of students who are beginning their higher education journey in the 2026/2027 academic year.
At the beginning of their academic journey, the students were addressed by the Dean, Prof. Marko Perić, PhD, and welcomed by Maša Trinajstić, PhD, Assistant Professor and Vice Dean for Teaching, and Ema Petaković Ikica, PhD, Head of University Undergraduate Study Programmes. Along with words of welcome and useful advice for the start of their studies, they offered the freshmen their support and encouragement as they take on new challenges.
To make their first steps into student life as smooth as possible, Freshers’ Week is once again being organised this year, taking place from 28 September to 2 October 2026. During the week, students will be introduced to the Student Office, Library and IT Service, as well as the activities of the Career Centre and Student Internship Office. The programme also includes a presentation on the career of alumna Marijana Kalčić, Director of the Kvarner Tourist Board, while the final part of the programme will feature presentations of the Student Mentor Project, the Student Council and the Eco Committee. Freshmen will thus have an opportunity to learn more about peer support and the various ways in which they can actively participate in student initiatives and the life of the FTHM community.
Dear freshmen, a period of learning, new experiences, friendships and lasting memories lies ahead of you. Stay curious, ask questions, develop your interests and make the most of the opportunities that university life offers. Alongside the knowledge and skills you will acquire, cultivate cooperation, openness and responsibility—values that will accompany you throughout your future professional lives.
We wish all freshmen, as well as all our other students, a successful 2026/2027 academic year!
