The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, in cooperation with the Žmergo Association from Opatija, successfully marked the National Day Against Peer Violence, better known as Pink Shirt Day, for the fifth consecutive year. The event was held in the Faculty Library, bringing together students and employees in a shared mission to promote tolerance, respect and non-violent communication.
The focus of the event was a zero waste initiative, during which participants, led by the FMTU Eco Committee, created creative messages using old paper, cardboard and envelopes. Under the slogan #ViolenceStopsHere, they sent a strong message against all forms of violence. Members of the Eco Committee additionally marked the day symbolically by creating messages on pink shirts, highlighting the importance of this date.
This initiative directly contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) and Gender Equality (SDG 5).
Through this event, FMTU and the Žmergo Association reaffirm their commitment to creating an environment of zero tolerance for violence, while promoting values that form the foundation of a healthy and inclusive society. We invite everyone to continue supporting such initiatives and to contribute through their actions to creating a world free from violence.
