On the occasion of Earth Day, the FMTU Eco Committee and the Žmergo association organized a small home repairs workshop for students, inspired by the principles of the reuse economy — an approach that encourages repair and reuse instead of discarding. The workshop was held at FMTU under the expert guidance of Rijeka-based artist Nika Rukavina.
With this event, we marked Earth Day and reminded everyone of a simple but important idea — it is better to repair than to throw away. Such an approach reduces the amount of waste, preserves the environment, and encourages a more sustainable lifestyle.
The focus of the workshop was on introducing young people to basic tools such as a hammer, drill, and putty knife. Participants had the opportunity to learn the basics of the most common small household repairs, which encourages self-reliance and independence. There is nothing more “eco-friendly” than the ability to extend the lifespan of objects in our surroundings with our own hands.
We thank all participants for their attendance and active participation! Your engagement shows that there is a strong will to adopt practical skills that contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.
