Scientific conference SITECON 2026
SITECON 2026 is a scientific conference dedicated to the development of inclusive and accessible tourist destinations. The conference will be held on May 27, 2026 in Opatija, and serves as the final event of the SITE – Shaping Inclusive Tourist Experiences project, financed by the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 programme.
Conference theme, “Shaping Inclusive Tourist Destinations & Societies” brings together policy makers, researchers, tourism stakeholders, practitioners, destination authorities and different associations, with the aim of exchanging scientific insights, examples of good practice and innovative solutions in the field of universal design and accessibility in tourism.
Conference participation is free of charge. It is possible to participate with a presentation (of full-paper, abstract, case study, project or example of good practice) or as a participant without a presentation. All accepted contributions will be published in the digital Proceedings of the conference.

Contribution Submission Procedure:
Please prepare and submit your contribution according to the following guidelines:
- Before submitting, please fill out the application form.
- Download and use the template that corresponds to the type of contribution you selected: Abstract, Full Paper, Case Study/Best Practice/Project.
- Complete the abstract in the template. Please do not change the margins, fonts, or heading styles, and follow the guidelines listed in the template.
- Save the file using the following naming format: SITECON2026_LastName_FirstName.docx.
- Submit the completed template with your contribution via email to site@fmtu.uniri.hr no later than February 15, 2026.
All submissions will undergo a review process, and you will be informed of the outcome and next steps in due time, but no later than March 1.
