The four-year Bachelor’s degree programme in English “Business Economics in Tourism and Hospitality” with a specialisation in “Hospitality Management” aims to train students to manage economic processes and deal with complex tasks in the field of business economics in tourism and hospitality, with a particular focus on hotel management.
The programme offers a combination of academic skills and expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset for business transformation.
The courses follow current trends in the hotel industry and offer attractive and up-to-date course content with a balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. The courses offered address the development and operation of hotel businesses from the perspective of different stakeholders such as managers, employees, local communities or the state.
Students are trained to promote responsible behaviour in tourism and hospitality based on the principles of sustainable development and ethical principles, promoting a balanced approach in assessing economic, environmental and social impacts in the development of hotel businesses.

The study programme is conducted at the Faculty of Management in Tourism and Hospitality in Opatija for students in full-time status. Upon completion of the study programme, the participant acquires the academic title: Bachelor in Economics (baccalaureus) – abbreviation: univ. bacc. oec.(240 ECTS).

Completion of a four-year secondary school, passed state matriculation exam and fulfilment of the requirements for enrolment in the first year of a study programme.

Possibility of employment
The programme of this undergraduate degree is designed to provide relevant knowledge for leadership roles and to create conditions for further education in higher-level university programmes. Upon completion of this programme, students will have the opportunity to be employed in companies in the hotel industry as well as in all other selective forms of tourism supply and related industries (tourist organisations, tourist boards, travel agencies, tourism associations, public sector, media, accounting services, audits and inspections , education system, financial institutions and other economic business systems where specific tourism and hospitality knowledge is required with an emphasis on hotel management).

*Motivational interview
An applicant who has applied for the study programme must register for an interview via the following link:
– first application cycle by 23:59 (GMT) on 20 June 2024: Interview Registration – COMPLETE
– second application cycle by 23:59 (GMT) on 7 July 2024: Interview Registration.
Once registered, each applicant will receive an invitation to interview (the invitation will specify the date and time of the interview). The interviews are conducted online.
The motivational interview is a mandatory part of the selection process for admission to the undergraduate study programme in Business Economics in Tourism and Hospitality, specialising in Hotel Management in English.
The committee evaluates the applicants on the basis of the interview. The motivational interview is an onsite or online discussion about the applicant’s motivations and interests in the field of business economics in tourism and hospitality, with a particular focus on hotel management. It can be about professional goals, attitudes towards a specific area, or the applicant’s desire for personal development.
By completing the motivational interview, the applicant acquires the right to be included in the official ranking list for admission to the study programme.
After the publication of the final ranking list of the state matriculation examination through the NISpVU system, candidates who exercise the right to enroll and receive an enrollment number in their e-mail inbox will receive a link for delivery of enrollment documentation and enrollment instructions the day before enrollment.
Online enrolment for the summer session will take place from 18 July 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to 19 July 2024, at 12:00 p.m. via the web application: Enrolment for the 1st year (the link will be available on the enrolment days).
A candidate who does not enrol in the specified dates loses the right to enrol in the study programme.

IMPORTANT!
All enrolment documents must be prepared and completed prior to enrolment. In case of incomplete or incorrect documents, the applicant will be asked to correct or complete them via the enrolment form.
All applicants who have registered an email with the domain @skole.hr in the system when registering for the State Maturity Examination are kindly requested to update their email address to another email address (@gmail.com or similar) before enrolment.
